Selma Lou Landis Obituary (1942

After a battle with Alzheimer's, Selma Landis went home to the be with Jesus on Saturday, April 18, 2020. Even in her last weeks, she had a smile on her face and still made everyone laugh. She never lost her sense of humor or her joy. Selma was a beautician for 50 years and worked hard to support her family. She was the proud mother of six children. Selma loved visiting Galveston beach with family and annual girl's trips to Las Vegas with her daughters. She loved Elvis and playing the slot machines at nearby casinos. Selma was the biggest Dallas Cowboy fan and looked forward to football season. She loved to read, especially books by James Patterson. Her favorite time was visiting with family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Selma was born June 13, 1942 in Dallas and graduated from Sunset high school. She completed beauty school with honors. She was a beautiful and classy lady, who had a great sense of humor. She could light up a room and kept everyone laughing. For every situation she always had a saying. Let's just say, she was something else! Selma was preceded in death by parents Paul & Louise McDonald, brother Junior McDonald, sons Dennis Gates and Doug Gates and son-in-law Lonnie Dudley. Selma is survived by siblings Larry McDonald, Sherry Green, and Stanley McDonald, daughters Debra Dudley and Donna Hooper, sons Matt Pyland and Larry Landis, daughter-in-laws Miranda Landis and Heather Pyland, and son-in-law Mike Hooper. Grand children Susan Griggs, Lonnie Dudley, II, Katie Dudley, Krystal Coffman, Tommy Gates, Sarah Gates, Jonathan Hooper, Jessica Hooper, Amanda Hooper, David Hooper, Douglas Gates, Daniel Gates, Cadyn Landis, Trey Landis, Ariana Landis, Miranda Landis, Aaliyah Landis and Mya Landis. Great Grandchildren Christopher Dudley, Gerald Griggs, Annie Griggs, Levi Griggs, Lonnie Dudley, III, Lola Dudley, Isaiah Pruitt, Brooklyn Coffman, London Coffman, Addison Coffman, Jordan Coffman, Jocelyn Gates and Arlo Gates.
