Ruth P. Mobley (Pevoto)

–

Midlothian, Texas

Ruth Pevoto Mobley was born to O.R. Pevoto Sr. and Ruth Willis Pevoto on February 25, 1934, in Beaumont, Texas and passed away in Waxahachie, Texas on Monday, October 16, 2023.

Ruth is survived by her son Walter Thomas Mobley Jr. and his wife Laura Morgan Mobley, grandson Reese Thomas Mobley, all of Waxahachie, as well as her granddaughter, Morgan Mobley Rogers and husband, Garrett Rex Rogers and great granddaughter, Charlotte Blake Rogers, all of Houston TX.

She is also survived by her niece, Candace Pevoto Caley and her husband John D. Caley, and her nephews Richard Mobley and wife Debbie, Randy Mobley and wife Sylvia, and Rodney Mobley and wife Barbara.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 2015.

Ruth graduated from Beaumont's South Park High School in 1952. After high school she went on to graduate from nursing school as an RN and served both in clinical and administrative roles at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Ruth married Walter Thomas Mobley Sr. of Beaumont, Texas on October 4, 1958, and they raised their family in Beaumont and Lumberton. Ruth was devoted to her family; first to her son Walt and then to her grandchildren, Morgan and Reese. She loved animals, especially dogs, and her family always included a much-loved canine!
She and Walter relocated from East Texas to Waxahachie to be near their grandchildren and they joyfully embraced their role as grandparents.

"MonMaw" as she was known and "Ghee," Walter's grandpa name, enthusiastically attended every game and event as their grandchildren grew to adulthood.

She was thrilled to meet her great granddaughter Charlotte, who was born in November of 2022.

Ruth was an avid "cross worder" and voracious reader. She was active in her church women's group, several book clubs, and she enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad. She was also a woman of deep faith. We take comfort in our grief that although she is away from us, she is at home with the Lord.

For the last several years Ruth made her home at Legacy Oaks in Midlothian. The family would like to sincerely thank the management and staff of Legacy Oaks for their wonderful care of Ruth during her declining health.

The family would also like to express appreciation to the owners and employees of Kim and Jenny's Restaurant in Midlothian, Ruth's favorite breakfast spot, for their constant love and care of Ruth over the years.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Assist the Officer Foundation at atodallas.org.
