Milton Marcus "Sard" Mcclendon Obituary (1925

Milton Marcus "Sard" McClendon was born on October 2, 1925 in Mt. Peak, Texas. He went to be with his Lord and Margaret on September 20, 2018. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Margaret, parents, Earnest and Jettie, stepmother, Earnestine and his brother and best friend, Melvin. He is survived by his children, Gary and Patricia McClendon, Ricky and Sherry McClendon, David and Lisa McClendon, six grandchildren, Chad McClendon, Casey Lazic, Cory McClendon and Valerie, Shana Shopfer and Myles, Chase McClendon and Brendan McClendon, 4 great-grandchildren, Chloe and Emma McClendon and Myles and Stella Shopfer, two sisters, Linda and Dwaine Wheatley and Marilyn and Jim Matthews. He had numerous nieces and nephews. Sard served in the US Navy during WW II. They moved to the San Francisco area where Sard was stationed. After his discharge from the Navy they returned to the Midlothian area and Sard worked as a farmer for many years. They bought a farm in Itasca in 1965 and moved from Midlothian. Because of health issues, he sold the farm in Itasca and they returned to Midlothian. Sard worked as a car salesman, tax collector and retired form the Ellis County Appraisal District. After retirement he worked for many years doing odd jobs around town. He was active in the Food Pantry and Senior Citizens Center and served a short term as a Midlothian City Councilman. Sard loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a life-long member of the Midlothian Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for many years.
