Matthew Paul Sweet

Matthew Paul Sweet was welcomed into the loving arms of God on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Matt was born on March 24, 1988 in San Antonio, Texas, to Berney and Rickie Sweet. Throughout his life, Matt guided, influenced and protected his two younger sisters, Stephanie and Nicole. Matt avidly participated in Ennis High School's Key Club, National Honor Society and UIL programs until his graduation, with honors in 2006. He earned his associate's degree from Navarro College, while excelling as a mathematics tutor. Matt never met a stranger. He had a passion for connecting with others in the course of his career. Matt cherished spending time with his nephews, Artemis and Bryton, playing video games and watching television. Matthew greatly admired his grandfather, Bernard Eugene Sweet Sr. of Brackettville, Texas, with whom he spent many summer days swimming, exploring, fishing and watching classic movies. Matthew is survived by his parents, sisters, nephews, grandfather, aunts, uncles and cousins. Although he will be missed every day, Matthew's family takes comfort in knowing his beloved grandmother, Charlotte Sweet, is waiting to lead him through the gates of Heaven. Private family services will be held at a later date.
