Born on February 24, 1933, in Gonzales, Texas, Matias spent his 92 years making an indelible impact on those fortunate enough to know him. He was a man of unparalleled tenacity and resilience, deeply rooted in his humble beginnings, which instilled in him an enduring sense of grit and perseverance. The great American author Mark Twain once said, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started," and Matias embodied this throughout his life and career in construction. Matias Martinez, as he was fondly known, was a respected figure in the field of construction, where he dedicated his life to building more than just structures, but also solid relationships and shared dreams. He is survived by his Children, Matias Jr., Margaret, Minerva, Melinda, Melissa, and Melva; 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Oralia, his daughters Mary Alice, Martha, and Mary.
