Mary Sue Pruitt (Pruitt) Obituary (1935

Mary Sue Pruitt, born on April 14, 1935, to the late Claude Ira Pruitt and Thelma Lucille Perry Pruitt in her hometown of Midlothian, Texas, completed her earthly journey on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in Murchison, Texas. Her life was a tapestry of love, cherished memories, and joy. In her youth, Sue was a remarkable young woman who excelled both on and off the court. She proudly represented her high school as a member of the basketball team, a talented majorette, and was crowned "All Around Girl." Her grace and charm earned her the title of Queen of the May Fete for the class of 1953 at Midlothian High School. On June 16, 1955, Sue married the love of her life, V. H. Easterwood, Jr. Their union brought forth two beautiful children, Valerie and Donna, and their family was a testament to love and devotion. For many years, Sue worked as an executive secretary for International Trucks in Dallas, Texas. Her dedication and commitment to her work were evident to all who had the privilege of working alongside her. She was respected and admired for her professionalism and work ethic. Sue's love for life extended to her many passions. She thrived on the bowling alley, reveled in the thrill of water skiing, and embraced the excitement of snow skiing. Her soul was stirred by dance and music, with a special fondness for artists like Floyd Cramer, Ray Charles, Eddy Arnold, Tom Jones, and Engelbert Humperdinck. Later in life, she eagerly participated in organizing and attending annual high school class reunions, rekindling old friendships and creating lasting memories. Sue's legacy lives on through her family and loved ones. She is survived by her devoted children, Valerie Easterwood Windell and Donna Easterwood Segraves, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Shaunta Windell Grimes and her husband, Justin, and Levy Shea Windell, along with her great-granddaughter, Savanah Grimes. Sue is also survived by her dear sister, Ferne Pruitt Lyle, and a network of other family members who held special places in her heart. Nephews Mike Lyle and wife Marla, Gary Lyle and wife Bea, niece Kelly Gray and husband Terry, and nephew Tracy Davidson and wife Holly, were all touched by her love and kindness. Mary Sue Pruitt's memory will forever be a source of inspiration and love to those who had the privilege of knowing her. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Midlothian Funeral Home at 10 o'clock in the morning. The family appreciates any gestures of sympathy and support during this time.
