Mary Jones, a generous soul with a heart full of love, departed from this world on August 20, 2026, at the age of 65. Born Mary Martha Davis in Lubbock, Texas on July 19, 1961, she was a beacon of light who embodied strength, resilience, and an unsinkable spirit. Mary's humble beginnings in Midlothian, Texas, where she was a beloved part of her community, instilled in her a sense of duty towards those less fortunate or in need. Equipped with her GED and nursing degree, she dedicated her life to the service of others, in both her personal and professional life.
In a tribute to Mary's loving and funny nature, she was a master storyteller who charmed all with her humor and wit. She had a knack for making people laugh and was the life of every party she hosted. An avid fisherwoman and gardener, she found joy and tranquility in nature. She loved the ocean, finding peace in the crash of the waves. Mary was truly one of a kind. Brave, quick-witted, and fiercely independent, she brought a vibrant enthusiasm to everything she did. Her love for music and dance was infectious, and she never hesitated to share her passion with her loved ones. Mary was also famously stubborn—as unyielding as a grumpy old man refusing to ask for directions—a trait that only made her more deeply loved by those who knew her best. As a dedicated nurse, realtor, and a vital part of the Florida Georgia Blood Alliance, Mary's generosity knew no bounds. Her contribution as a 20-gallon blood donor stands as a testament to her selfless spirit and philanthropic nature.
Mary was a devoted daughter to Anna Maria and I.M. Kerley, a cherished sister, a loving wife to her late husband, Randy Jones, and a mother who loved unconditionally. Her departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but her memory lives on in her daughter, Randi Taylor Jones; her step daughter Misty Jones; grandchildren Miranda, Dalton and Kyler; her siblings Patricia Dunklin, Rhonda Schaller, Leslie Davis, , Chassica Taylor, Cheryl Hogarty, and Sherry “Sissy” Kerley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family in Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Randy Jones; her step-father, I.M. Kerley; her brother, Randall “Randy” Davis, and her sister, Karen Stewart.
In the words of the Bible, "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). Mary certainly let her light shine brightly, impacting the lives of everyone she met. Her warmth, generosity, and love will forever be remembered.
A celebration of Mary's life will take place on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 6:00 pm, at the Midlothian Funeral Home, 200 East Avenue East, Midlothian, Texas, 76065. We encourage you to leave your memories and upload photos of Mary to the memorial page. In this way, we can all remember and celebrate the remarkable woman she was, whose spirit will continue to inspire us all.
