Carolyn "Doll" Lewis Obituary (1948

Carolyn Marie "Doll" Glenney Lewis died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 4th in Grand Prairie, TX at the age of 67. Carolyn is survived by her children: son Bobby and Darcy Lewis of Los Angeles, CA; daughter Jenny and Tony Leone of Haughton, LA; daughter Tammy and Dixon Bautista of Honolulu, HI; son-in-law Nick Adkison of Midlothian, TX; and grandchildren Van Lewis, Jacob Bautista, and Keira Adkison. She is also survived by brothers and sisters: Mary Beth Glenney Kielbasa of San Antonio, TX; George and Eileen Glenney of Georgetown, TX; and Richard and Susan Glenney of Duncanville, TX. She was greatly adored by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. She is joined in death by husband Tom Lewis of Oak Point, TX and daughter Carolyn Lewis Adkison of Midlothian, TX. Carolyn was born on December 30, 1948 in Wichita Falls, TX to the late Julius Glenney and the late Elizabeth Martin Glenney. Carolyn studied sociology at Angelo State University. During her college years, she was introduced to the love of her life, Tom Lewis, the roommate of her brother George at Texas A&M University. Carolyn and Tom married in 1971. Carolyn took great pride in her life's work as a faithful and steadfast homemaker, raising four children that she took thousands of pictures of (and with). As Tom forged a career as a schoolteacher throughout Texas, Carolyn ran a loving and nurturing household, providing a space of respite and warmth from long schooldays and chaotic bus routes with her characteristic wit and gentle pats on the shoulder. Carolyn was powerful in prayer, supporting all she knew with her quiet strength and positive spirit. With never an unkind word for anyone, she lived a life of grace in which she found great delight in the small things: treating her kids to a hamburger, walking the Little Elm park, and her beloved hobby, shopping. Proud of her Texas roots, she continually reminded her children that she was a fourth generation Texan. That said, she also loved to travel, collecting souvenirs and sending postcards to her kids from her many destinations. Her children remember her as their emotional rock, as she exemplified the living lesson of patience and humility. She was an active member of Denton Bible Church.
