Midlothian, Texas
Carol Lynn Cordes was born on September 9, 1937 to Pearly and Norris Cordes in Fayetteville, Texas. Her family moved to Columbus, Texas when she was a sophomore. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1956 where she participated in sports, played the clarinet in band, and was also a class officer. After high school, she moved to Houston where she graduated from Massey Business College and worked for First City National Bank. Throughout her career, she was a stay-at-home mom, worked at a title company, and various banking institutions, eventually retiring from Pearland State Bank.
Carol met the love of her life, Hubert Kubala, during her time living in Columbus and they married on August 9, 1958. Although they started their family in Houston, in 1969, they moved to Pearland and raised their three children there. Carol loved her children and was always involved in their many activities. She was a member of the PTA, Room Mom, parent sponsor for field trips, band activities, and attended every sports event possible cheering on the sidelines. In their retirement years, Carol and Hubert moved to Midlothian where they enjoyed spending time with their five grandchildren, and they traveled many fun miles together on road trips around Texas and neighboring states. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage, before Hubert's passing in 2019.
Carol was always strong in her faith and had a lifelong love for church. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus, Hope Lutheran Church in Houston, a charter member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Pearland, a member of Hope Church in Friendswood, and a member of First Methodist Church in Midlothian. She was involved in various activities at each of her church homes. She participated in the Women's Groups, adult Sunday School Classes, and served on the alter guild. She loved music and was a gifted singer. She was a member of the choir for many years, and was also the Children's Music Director during summer Vacation Bible Schools. She was a substitute teacher for Children's Sunday School. She was also on a quilting guild, fondly known as The Knotty Ladies. She completed various organized Bible studies including the Bethel Bible Series, and contributed her time serving in the Stephen Ministries.
Outside of church she was involved with Christian Helping Hands, and Meals on Wheels.
Carol is survived by her children: Brent Kubala, Marla Silvia and husband Robert, and Carla Atwal. Grandchildren: Trevor and Logan Silvia, Aidan and Nicholas Atwal, and Danielle Kubala. Nieces and Nephews: Debbie Lincke, Charles Cordes, and Melissa Kubala. And several Grand Nieces and Nephews.
Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, daughter, sister, and witness to Christ. She will be greatly missed, but we rejoice knowing we will all be together again one day.
