Betty Kerby Rosentreter, known affectionately to many as Babe, Momma, BeBe, Bets, Betty Boop, Kerby, Rottweiler and Betty Rose, was a radiant beacon of humor, generosity, love, and inspiration. Born on May 5, 1937, in Mills County, Texas, Betty was a witty and spirited soul who enriched the lives of all those around her. A loving mother, cherished friend and an avid believer in Christ, Betty's unwavering faith shone through in her selfless acts of kindness and the encouragement she imparted on anyone who crossed her path.
Betty's generosity was not limited to her family and friends. She was blessed to be a stay-at- home mom until her youngest daughter was in high school. She later became a bookkeeper. She was relentless and diligent yet always found time for her hobbies. Betty's love for canning, sewing, coloring, and garage sales was only surpassed by her love for her family and faith. Her home was a sanctuary for any stray kids off the street, and she was always ready to embark on a new adventure, with her bags packed and ready to go. She enjoyed her time with the Merry Hearts group from the Ellis County Cowboy Church. Betty's enthusiastic participation in the Eastern Star and as the Best Classroom Mom, where she was famous for bringing the best cookies, demonstrated her zest for life and commitment to her community. Her contribution to the establishment of the first nursery and her volunteer work for the Vacation Bible School at the Cowboy Church of Ellis County is a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to serving others.
Betty's spirit lives on through her daughter, Donna Rosentreter and Gary Minter, daughter Gina & Alan LaRue, granddaughters, Dayna Henderson, Jayme and Colter Johnston, Heather McElhaney, Katy and Scott Metcalfe, great grandkids, Hunter and Daphne McElhaney, Jarrod and Emma Metcalfe, Makayla McElhaney, Kyler McElhaney, Brock Henderson, Kyndal McElhaney, Ally Metcalfe, Bella Henderson, Cayden Metcalfe, Matilda Fletcher, great-great grandchildren, Elijah McElhaney and Abigail Metcalfe, her brother Ira Willie (Bimbo) Kerby, sister-in-law Nomie Kunkel, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and all her beloved Legacy Oaks friends. A special love and thanks goes to Jan Merrer who made sure she had everything she needed. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Jr., her father, Ira Kerby, her mother, Beatrice Kerby, her step-mother Millie Kerby Dansbee, her sister, Mary Beacham, her brother-in-law, Vernon Beacham, her sister Kathryn Witschorke, her sister-in-law Charlie Kerby and her nephews Darwin Beacham and Paul Witschorke and dear friend Bill Ritter. In the words of Corinthians 13:7, "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." Betty's life was a testament to this verse, as she was a woman whose love knew no bounds. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
