Arthur William Dellinger, affectionately known as Daddy and Pawpaw, passed away on November 11, 2024, at the age of 79. Born in Waxahachie, Texas, on October 23, 1945, to Robert Luther Dellinger Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Billingsley Dellinger, Arthur spent his early years in Midlothian, Texas, where he attended Midlothian High School.
Following his high school years, Arthur joined the United States Navy, proudly serving his country aboard the USS Enterprise. His time in the Navy shaped his strong sense of duty, which he carried into his later years, both in his career and personal life.
Arthur dedicated much of his professional life to public service, working with the Waxahachie and Midlothian Police Departments. Later, he embarked on a new path as the owner-operator of Dellinger Trucking, where he applied the same commitment and integrity he was known for throughout his career.
Arthur was a man of deep faith, identifying as a Christian and living his values each day. In his spare time, he cherished relaxing moments with his beloved dog, finding peace and companionship in the simplicity of those moments.
On February 18, 1966, Arthur married the love of his life, Margaret Sue Dellinger, and together they built a family and life grounded in love, respect, and shared values. Arthur is survived by his devoted wife, Sue, and their daughter, Sheila Pittman. He leaves behind a legacy in his grandchildren, Shawn Hill, Austin Hill, Gloria Pittman, Alex Pittman, and Hailey Pittman, as well as his great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Jacob Hale, and Maisleigh Hill. Arthur's family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with his parents, Robert Sr. and Mary, and his brother, Robert Jr., who preceded him in death.
Arthur William Dellinger will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, country, and community. His quiet strength, warm heart, and steadfast devotion have left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
